Redhead Celebrities

“It’s not the hair that turns men on, it’s the spirit that redheads exude.”

A recent research conducted by Procter and Gamble, manufacturers of beauty products, established that redheads learn early to defend their personalities and justify their natural yet unusual hair color. This helps then in establishing very distinct personal traits that are essential in making it in this competitive world. That is just one of the many research studies conducted to establish why redheads always seem to be performers in their respective trades, more than the comparative population of normal haired people.

The most consistent finding in these studies about redheads is that they are fiercly independent, aggressive, warm and friendly. That is debatable since establishing those traits need much more than asking someone a set of questions. But the reality still remains that we have had great men and women who have walked this globe in different times and settings, and who have been among the most famous redhead celebrities of all time. World leaders for example – and the greatest of them to say the least – Sir Winston Churchill the beloved and honored British Prime Minister was red headed, as was George Washington, the father of the US nation and first president of independent United States of America. The greatness of these men is not questionable at all. To add into the bulk of prominent world leaders, Thomas Jefferson was also a redhead.

Queen Elizabeth I was a redhead and a loved one at that. She actually inspired many a woman in England to dye their hair red in comradeship. The whole of the Elizabethan era is perhaps what trounced on the rising apathy towards the redhead Irish population. An equal in stature to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth may be Cleopatra, who was also a redhead celebrity in her days.

Crossing the ocean, comedian and actor Carrot Top, beloved in the entire expanse of North America was as redheaded as they come. The novelist and children story grand master of all time, Samuel Clemens popularly known as Mark Twain was also a redhead celebrity.

In modern times, the list of redhead celebrities has not grown short. Indeed, the numbers of celebrities, well known and stars in their chosen fields have made it impressionable to spot naturally vibrant and attention catching red locks. These celebrities are all redhead, featuring an expansive range of the scarlet hues. Such include the sexy actress, Marcia Cross, of the Desperate Housewives’ fame and the baseball superstar of all time, Mark McGuire. In the recent past, actress Lucille Ball stole the headlines as did her equal famous redhead Rita Hayworth. We all can recall the fanatic adoration with which actor Nicole Kidman caught the world, a redhead celebrity of repute.

The singers of country music, Reba McEntire and the baritone voiced, Willie Nelson were also famous redheads. One thing is for sure, that these personalities caught our attention, won our hearts, impressed us and now remain in our memory, despite having been redheaded. Even fictional redheads have been as popular as they counterparts in real life. But in fiction, most tend to be fiery and mischievous, a personality trait largely associated with famous redheads. Such famous literary redhead celebrities include, Jessica Rabbit, Pippi Longstocking, twin Ron Weasley, Fred and George in the Harry Potter series, Anne of Green Gables, Little Orphan Annie, Little Mermaid Ariel of Disney and Forever Red.

Other respected and famous redheads include Lindsay Lohan, Alyson Hannigan, Kate Winslet, Julianna Moore, Gillian Anderson, Molly Ringwald, Marilu Henner and before Marilyn Monroe came along, there was the indomitable Norma Jean. All these have inspired global support in their acting careers and they continue to showcase the red hair phenomenal on the silver screen. The early representations of the Biblical Mary Magdalene in art depict her as a redhead, with long majestically flowing red hair. Although such a description of red hair lacks in the Bible, maybe she too, was a redhead celebrity of her time.

The truth is that the impressive list of famous redhead celebrities who have graced our world in different times cannot be compiled in a single article. The basics are to know that they have been there, and more will continue to rise to stardom every day the sun sets. Being a marginal percentage of the population on earth, such a number of redheads rising to the echelons of power and or entertainment or sports, cannot go unnoticed or unheralded.
